International Planned Parenthood Federation

A global civil society federation founded in 1952, delivering sexual and reproductive health services, advocacy, education and humanitarian response through national Member Associations worldwide.

The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a civil society movement and global provider of sexual and reproductive health services, founded in 1952. Its advocacy work advances sexual and reproductive health and rights at local and global levels, alongside a broader portfolio spanning healthcare delivery, comprehensive sexuality education, youth engagement, humanitarian response, and human rights and social justice. Work at the intersection of law, policy and rights forms part of this remit, alongside the practical delivery of care.

The organisation is structured as a federation of national Member Associations across countries and regions worldwide, described as locally led but globally connected. Services are delivered through Member Associations, volunteers and this worldwide network, and the federation also supports its Member Associations in strengthening their institutional work. The model is member-led and volunteer-driven, with a collaborative, partnership-based approach through programmes and networks.

IPPF's stated focus is on rights, justice and informed choice. Its reach extends to women and girls, young people and marginalized communities globally, and its work spans the verticals of sexual and reproductive health, healthcare and social services, humanitarian aid, advocacy and human rights, and education. It operates as a mission-driven civil-society organisation rather than a commercial enterprise.
