Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development

An intergovernmental organisation founded in 1961 that helps governments develop better policies through data, analysis and best practice, working with over 100 countries from its Paris headquarters.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an intergovernmental organisation and knowledge hub founded in 1961. Headquartered in Paris, it works with over 100 countries worldwide to compare experiences, address shared challenges and develop better public policies. Its remit spans economic policy, education, climate change, employment and international taxation - the last of these being an area of particular interest to legal practitioners, covering comparative analysis and best practice in cross-border tax.

Through its policy forum, countries draw on data, analysis and best practices to learn from one another. The organisation's evidence-based policy advice combines international benchmarking with comparative research to support governments pursuing prosperity, sustainability, inclusiveness and well-being. Its technical work covers economic policy analysis, education policy, climate change policy, employment policy, international taxation, data analysis, international benchmarking and public policy research.

Working practices reflect a multilateral, mission-driven approach: a collaborative environment in which member and partner countries engage with one another, and where evidence, data and best practice underpin the output. Geographic presence is global, with the organisation engaging over 100 countries and operating from its Paris headquarters.
