CD Projekt
Independent Polish video games group whose CD PROJEKT RED studio develops role-playing games, including The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt is an independent video games group founded in 2002 and headquartered in Warsaw, Poland. The group employs more than 1,200 professionals across five studios located in Warsaw, Kraków and Wrocław, as well as Boston, in the United States, and Vancouver, in Canada. It describes itself as independent, with no corporate parent, and operates in the video games and interactive entertainment sectors.
The group's development arm, CD PROJEKT RED, produces role-playing games built around narrative design, open-world and first-person RPG design, and complex, nonlinear storytelling. Its best-known properties are The Witcher series, which has sold more than 75 million copies and won over 250 Game of the Year awards, and Cyberpunk 2077, a first-person role-playing game that has surpassed 30 million copies sold. Card game development is also among its listed technical domains.
CD Projekt states that it does not work to annualised development cycles, preferring to allow creative freedom to experiment and to take on problems it does not initially know how to solve. Its stated values include ambition, perseverance, honesty, and treating colleagues with kindness and respect, alongside a focus on the players its games are made for.
