Frontier Developments

Frontier Developments plc is a British video game developer and publisher founded in January 1994 and headquartered at Cambridge Science Park in Cambridge, England. An independent company, it develops and publishes immersive, high-quality games for PC and console platforms, with a particular specialism in the creative management simulation (CMS) genre. Its portfolio includes Elite Dangerous, Planet Coaster, Planet Coaster 2, Planet Zoo, Jurassic World Evolution and Jurassic World Evolution 2, with the recently announced Chaos Gate: Deathwatch among forthcoming titles.

The company operates from two studios: its Cambridge headquarters and Complex Games in Winnipeg, Canada. It has developed games for Microsoft, Sony, Atari, SEGA and Amazon, and published titles through its own dedicated publishing label, Frontier Foundry, which released eight games between 2019 and 2022. All of its games are built on Cobra, proprietary development technology that the company has continued to invest in and enhance over time.

Frontier describes its focus as immersive, fun gameplay with high artistic quality, and it builds communities around each title for players to share creations and experiences. The company has more than three decades of continuous operation in the video games and interactive entertainment sector.
