International Accounting Standards Board

Independent standard-setter under the IFRS Foundation, developing IFRS Accounting and Sustainability Disclosure Standards required for use in more than 140 jurisdictions.

The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) is one of two independent standard-setting boards operating under the IFRS Foundation, a not-for-profit, public interest organisation founded in 2001. The IASB develops IFRS Accounting Standards, a global accounting language for reporting on companies' financial health, which is required for use by companies in more than 140 jurisdictions. Its counterpart, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), develops IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards. Together the two boards work to produce standards that are high-quality, understandable, enforceable and globally accepted.

The organisation's work spans accounting standards development, sustainability disclosure, financial reporting, digital publishing and subscriptions, professional education and credentialing, and capacity building. Alongside the standards themselves, the Foundation maintains IFRS Digital, a subscription service providing access to its content, as well as licensing programs and printed publications supporting understanding and application of the standards. Its education and adoption initiatives include the FSA Credential and the IFRS Sustainability Alliance, which delivers capacity-building programs to support consistent application and adoption worldwide.

As a public interest body, the Foundation engages with a broad range of stakeholders, among them investors, regulators, preparers and the accounting profession. Its stated focus is transparency, accountability and efficiency in financial markets. The organisation's remit touches financial markets and capital markets, financial reporting and regulation, sustainability and ESG disclosure, and investment and investor services, and its standards apply across a global footprint of more than 140 jurisdictions.
