Voestalpine is a steel and technology group headquartered in Linz, Austria. Founded in 1938, the group combines materials and processing expertise across four divisions - Steel, High Performance Metals, Metal Engineering and Metal Forming - supplying the automotive, aerospace, energy, consumer goods and railway industries. Annual revenues are approximately €15.7 billion, with around 49,700 employees working in more than 50 countries across five continents.
Its product range spans high-quality steel products, high-performance tool steels, railway systems and innovative lightweight components for the automotive sector. Technical capabilities include steel production, materials science, metal engineering and metal forming. The group operates in a heavily regulated, internationally distributed industrial context, with activities touching multiple jurisdictions and industry standards.
Decarbonization is a central element of the group's industrial strategy. In 2019 Voestalpine commissioned what is described as the world's largest pilot facility for CO2-neutral green hydrogen production in the steel industry, and the company works on decarbonization technologies and lightweight engineering. It has set a target of net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
