Rockwool

ROCKWOOL manufactures stone wool insulation from basalt rock for construction, industry, marine and horticultural use, and operates in 40 countries.

ROCKWOOL is the world's leading manufacturer of stone wool insulation, produced by melting basalt rock at high temperatures and spinning it into wool fibres. Founded in 1937 as a Danish family business, the company employs more than 12,000 people and operates in 40 countries, spanning manufacturing, construction materials and horticulture.

Its principal product is stone wool insulation, used across residential and commercial construction, industrial applications, marine vessels and offshore platforms. The material is specified for fire resistance, thermal efficiency, sound absorption and moisture management - properties that place the company at the centre of building safety, product standards and environmental regulation in multiple jurisdictions. A second product line supplies stone wool-based growing media for horticulture.

The company's technical work covers materials science, high-temperature melting and fibre spinning, thermal and acoustic insulation, and moisture management. Its stated purpose is to release the natural power of stone to enrich modern living, with a stated commitment to sustainability and to safer, more sustainable and more durable built environments.

Headquartered in Denmark, ROCKWOOL has operated for more than 85 years and maintains a global footprint across 40 countries.
