Mears Group

Mears Group is a British housing and care provider, delivering housing maintenance, management and care services for local and central government and other partners. Founded in 1988 in Gloucestershire as a small maintenance contractor, the company now employs more than 5,400 people nationwide and is listed on the London Stock Exchange. Its work is carried out under long-term arrangements with local authorities, central government, housing associations, registered providers, landlords and investors.

The group's operations span several distinct service lines. Housing maintenance and repairs accounts for in excess of 6,000 jobs a day across a portfolio of more than 1,000,000 homes. Planned maintenance and capital works are delivered on social housing properties. Through housing management, Mears provides and manages 17,000 homes for government while maintaining 750,000 social housing properties across the UK. Housing with care services run across 21 extra care schemes.

As a publicly listed contractor serving the public sector, Mears operates within a framework of government contracting, social housing regulation and care provision, and describes its mission as creating funding and delivery models to address the country's housing challenges.
