Leonardo

Leonardo S.p.A. is a multinational industrial group working in Aerospace, Defence and Security, supplying multi-domain technological capabilities to governments and institutions worldwide. Founded in 1948 and headquartered in Rome, the company reports over 60,000 employees, 180 sites, revenue of €17.8 billion and an order portfolio of €44.2 billion, with annual R&D investment of €2.5 billion. Its activities are concentrated in heavily regulated, government-facing markets, and its customers include public bodies such as the U.S. Coast Guard and NASA.

The group's product lines span helicopters for civil and military customers, aircraft, aerostructures, defence and aerospace electronics, cybersecurity, and space systems. Among the latter are robotic arms supplied for NASA's Mars missions. Other technical domains include robotics and security solutions. The company operates in Italy, the United States and across a global network of sites.

Leonardo took its current name in 2017, after Leonardo da Vinci, in reference to his systemic thinking and ingenuity. The group traces its origins to Italy's postwar industrial rebuilding and describes a 75-year history of technological development in aerospace and defence.
