Hill & Smith designs and manufactures transportation safety products for roadway work zones, protecting both road workers and the travelling public. Its product range covers impact attenuators, portable steel barriers and traffic-control equipment, and is built around work zone safety, roadside safety and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The company is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, and its products are deployed across the United States.

Among its principal products is Smart Cushion, a MASH-compliant impact attenuator designed to protect people in work zones, and Zoneguard, a portable steel barrier used for work zone traffic management and risk reduction. The portfolio also includes Smart Work Zone Systems for managing traffic within roadway work zones, message and arrow boards for directing and informing traffic, and a broader range of traffic-control products designed and manufactured for roadway work environments.

Hill & Smith works with government transportation agencies, contractors and road-safety partners, and operates within a standards-driven field in which products are specified against recognised crash-test criteria.
