Clayton Utz

Australian law firm founded in 1833, with around 1,500 staff and nearly 200 partners across six offices, advising large organisations and government in advisory, disputes, projects and transactions.

Clayton Utz is one of Australia's largest law firms and a member of the so-called "Big Six". Founded in Sydney in 1833, the firm has operated for nearly two centuries and now employs approximately 1,500 staff, including close to 200 partners, across six offices in Australia. It provides legal services to large organisations and government entities nationwide.

The firm's work is organised into four practice areas: Advisory, Dispute Resolution, Projects and Transactions. Dispute Resolution covers litigation, including class action litigation; Projects spans major infrastructure and energy mandates; and Transactions includes landmark energy and other corporate deals worth billions. Sector experience extends across energy, mining and critical minerals, infrastructure, financial services, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, the digital economy, and the public sector.

Clayton Utz describes its approach as combining deep legal knowledge with an understanding of client needs, under the tagline "Your partners in success". The firm maintains a pro bono practice focused on access to justice for people who cannot secure Legal Aid, and states a broader purpose of contributing to the communities in which it operates.
