Broadfield offers early-career opportunities for university students, graduates and aspiring solicitors. Its vacation scheme gives candidates the opportunity to experience working as a trainee solicitor and gain an insight into the firm's lawyers, clients and working environment.
The Vacation Scheme
The London Vacation Scheme 2027 is a paid two-week programme taking place in June 2027. Participants work alongside Broadfield lawyers on live matters and experience two different practice areas during the scheme.
The programme begins with a comprehensive induction and includes skills development workshops and networking opportunities. Each participant is assigned a supervisor for each seat and receives additional support from the wider team, a trainee buddy and the Early Talent team.
Vacation scheme students are paid the Living Wage applicable to the area in which they are working.
What Participants Can Expect
The scheme provides practical exposure to legal work rather than being limited to presentations and observation.
Participants may be asked to:
Attend client meetings and take notes.
Carry out legal research.
Draft correspondence to clients.
Review documents relating to cases.
Work alongside solicitors on live matters.
Take part in skills development workshops.
Attend networking opportunities with lawyers and other members of the firm.
The two-seat structure allows participants to experience different areas of practice and develop a broader understanding of the work carried out by Broadfield lawyers.

Candidate Eligibility
For the 2027 vacation scheme, candidates should have completed, or be due to complete before September 2027, one of the following:
LLB or equivalent law degree
GDL or PGDL
LPC or LLM
SQE1
SQE1 and SQE2
Strong academic performance is preferred, ideally at 2:1 level. However, the firm considers mitigating circumstances and states that applicants are not scored on academic attainment.
Recruitment Process
Applications for the June 2027 vacation schemes open on 1 September 2026 and close on 10 January 2027.
The process begins with an online application form containing essay-style questions focused on candidates' motivation for a career in law and their reasons for wanting to work at Broadfield.
Candidates may use AI tools to assist with research, structuring or proofreading their applications. However, the firm states that applications relying too heavily on AI are unlikely to score well because the assessment is based on genuine personal experiences and authentic reflections.
Successful applicants are invited to complete a pre-recorded video interview. Offers for the vacation scheme are made following this stage.
From Vacation Scheme to Training Contract
The vacation scheme also provides a route into Broadfield's trainee recruitment process.
Candidates who receive positive feedback during the vacation scheme are invited to an in-person assessment centre at the end of June. Training contract offers are made shortly afterwards.
This means that the vacation scheme provides candidates with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills through practical work before progressing to the firm's assessment centre.

The London programme is based at Broadfield's London office:
