Autolus Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company developing next-generation, programmed T cell therapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases. Founded in 2014 and spun out of University College London on technology pioneered by Dr. Martin Pule, the company is headquartered in London, with operations in Germany and the USA. It describes itself as a fully integrated, next-generation CAR T company.

Its lead product, AUCATZYL (obecabtagene autoleucel, obe-cel), is a programmed autologous CAR T cell therapy approved by the FDA in November 2024 for adults with relapsed/refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The approval follows clinical research published in the New England Journal of Medicine and Nature Medicine, and marks the transition of the company to a commercial-stage business subject to the regulatory frameworks of the markets it operates in.

Alongside AUCATZYL, Autolus maintains a pipeline spanning hematological malignancies, solid tumours and autoimmune diseases, built on a proprietary, modular T cell programming platform. The technology centres on Chimeric Antigen Receptors that combine the tumour-recognition domains of antibodies with activation and costimulatory domains from the T cell receptor. The company's stated focus is on delivering treatments to patients with serious disease.
